Every stick on India's restricted plastic list now has a bamboo twin, and the dimensions match
India's single-use plastic restriction is written item by item, which is why compliance fails one SKU at a time. GreenLife Bamboo has published a mapping from each restricted stick item to its bamboo replacement, with dimensions and HSN codes, so a buyer can audit a purchase ledger line by line rather than by brand.
The rule names products, not industries
The Plastic Waste Management (Amendment) Rules restrict identified items: plastic stirrers, plastic cutlery, plastic sticks for balloons, flags and candy, and ear buds with plastic stems. A café can therefore be fully compliant on its cups and non-compliant on the stirrer sitting beside them. Enforcement, when it arrives, arrives at that level of detail — which makes brand-level sustainability statements useless as evidence.
Reading the mapping
The published table pairs each restricted item with a bamboo format at matched dimensions: a 6 mm wide, 1.3 mm thick stirrer in 90 to 140 mm; a candy or lollipop stick at the length the plastic one used; a bamboo-stem ear bud. Matching the dimension rather than approximating it is the point — cup lids, automatic inserters and blister tooling were built around the plastic part, and a switch that requires retooling is a switch that gets postponed.
What an inspector actually asks for
In practice the request is documentary: show a purchase invoice that names the material of the replacement item. An invoice line reading 'bamboo skewer' under HSN 1401, or a paddle pick under 4602, closes the question. A generic 'eco cutlery' line does not, and buyers are frequently asked to reissue. Any supplier can provide this; the mapping exists so buyers know which line item to look for.
