Bamboo stick formats now cover every stick item on India's restricted plastic list
Every stick item named on India's restricted single-use plastic list — stirrers, candy and lollipop sticks, balloon and flag sticks, and ear-bud stems — now has a dimensionally equivalent bamboo replacement in production in India. GreenLife Bamboo has published the mapping, with dimensions and HSN codes, so buyers can audit their own SKUs item by item.
The restriction is written by item, not by industry
India's Plastic Waste Management (Amendment) Rules restrict identified single-use plastic items, including plastic stirrers, plastic cutlery, plastic sticks for balloons, flags and candy, and ear buds with plastic sticks. A café can therefore be compliant on its cups and non-compliant on the stirrer beside them, which is why switching happens SKU by SKU rather than brand by brand.
The bamboo mapping
A 6 mm wide, 1.3 mm thick bamboo stirrer replaces the plastic stirrer in 90 to 140 mm lengths. A bamboo candy or lollipop stick replaces the plastic one at the same length. A bamboo-stick ear bud replaces the plastic-stem bud. Because the dimensions match closely, existing packing lines, cup sizes and automatic inserters generally do not need to change.
Evidencing the switch
Buyers should hold a purchase invoice naming the material for each restricted-item replacement. GreenLife Bamboo's GST invoices name the item and its HSN code — 1401 for bamboo sticks, 4602 for paddle and flag picks — which is the document an inspector or audit team asks to see.
