Is bamboo genuinely more sustainable than plastic or hardwood?
Yes, on three measurable counts: bamboo regrows from the same root system in three to five years without replanting, the finished stick is home compostable because it is untreated, and it displaces a petroleum-derived item that persists in the environment for centuries.

What makes the growth cycle different?
Bamboo is a grass with a permanent rhizome. Harvesting a mature culm leaves the root system intact and stimulates new shoots, so a managed clump yields every year without replanting or clear-felling.
Does the finished stick really compost?
An untreated, uncoated stick is cellulose and lignin. It breaks down in a home compost heap over months and faster in a municipal facility. A coated or waxed stick would not, which is one reason we polish mechanically instead.
How should a business talk about this honestly?
Claim what is measurable: material, absence of coatings, and compostability. Avoid carbon-neutral claims that a supplier cannot evidence with a verified footprint study.
